K-12 EDUCATION
Inspire your students
with something different
By asking students to suggest how biological mechanisms can solve human problems, biologically inspired design inspires students to wonder “what if” and promotes creativity. It is a perfect way to teach biology, basic physics, environmental sciences or engineering. Because it asks students to connect biological principles to human systems, it also allows students to practice critical thinking and analysis.
Working with teachers and other teaching experts, CBID affiliated individuals have developed a variety of materials and lessons that use biologically inspired design to teach science and engineering, promote inquiry and discovery, and that are just plain fun!
